7th Annual UAW Local 31 Hoops Invitational

The 7th Annual UAW Local 31 Hoops Invitational is all systems go! This is the kickoff event for the UAW Local 31 Adopt-A-Family program.

“The Adopt-A-Family program is a union member organized outreach initiative focused on providing a dignified Christmas to less fortunate families in the KC-Metro area. For 30+ years, the UAW Local 31 has been a catalyst for our community. We aim to carry on this tradition!” said UAW Local 31 President Dontay Wilson.

The UAW Local 31 Adopt-A-Family program has been continually active in the Kansas City-metro for over three decades, with two minor interruptions due to a strike and a global pandemic.

SPONSORSHIP: We offer sponsorship opportunities to businesses/organizations. For $250, we will prominently display your business name/logo on our event banner and recognize you as an official partner in the fight for urban-area families in need of a hand-up.

DATE: November 30th, 2024

LOCATION: The Hy-Vee Arena (1800 Genessee St, KansasC ity, MO 64102)

TEAM REGISTRATION: There is a $450.00 registration fee per team. Coaches are responsible for collecting the registration fee from their team. Coaches should provide Joe MacCualey (below) with their name, phone, email, team name, and players names and their emails.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: All registrations MUST be received by November 18th, 2024.

All proceeds from this benefit basketball tournament will be donated to the UAW Local 31 Adopt-A-Family program. (via the UAW Local 31 Community Service Committee)

Tristin grew up as the son of a UA Local 669 member in Tecumseh, KS and the great-nephew of George C. Amis, longtime leader of the United Rubberworkers (now USW Local 307) in Kansas. Growing up in rural Kansas as the child of teen parents, Tristin quickly came to appreciate the life-changing benefit of a union job.

Tristin and his partner, Rebeca Amezcua-Hogan, are residents of the Westside, Kansas City, MO's historic Mexican neighborhood. They are proud members of Kansas City's New Reform Temple.
