How do endorsements happen?

Local unions sit down with candidates and interview them on issues that are important to their membership. These interviews may happen individually or in a board room setting with one candidate interviewing in front of more than a dozen labor representatives.

Candidates are questioned on issues like prevailing wage, support for organizing new workers, support for organized labor, support from the community, buy American/buy union policies, past votes, their path to victory, and more.

Disclaimer: The Labor Beacon’s reporting is intended to reflect the endorsements of the Tri-County AFL-CIO or other major labor organizations with members living in Johnson, Leavenworth, and Wyandotte Counties in Kansas.
