Liberty 911 Dispatchers UNANIMOUSLY Unionize with CWA Local 6360

Date:

The Liberty, Missouri 911 dispatchers have unanimously voted to become the latest 911 dispatchers in the Kansas City-metro to join Communications Workers of America Local 6360. The small team of dispatchers, just six workers in total, reached out to the union after checking in with other workers in the region who had already unionized into Local 6360 and had glowing things to say about the benefits the union had brought to their workplace.

“Liberty is a fantastic place to work and over the past few years, whatever the police officers would get, we would also get. Until this last year, when they started getting more holiday and sick pay accrual and we didn’t. We decided we needed someone to properly fight for us. Thats when we reached out to CWA Local 6350,” said Emily Campbell, who has been a dispatcher at Liberty 911 for four years and is a union supporter.

“We are so happy to welcome these workers, who voted unanimously to join CWA Local 6360 into our union alongside our other 911 dispatch bargaining units,” said Tom Gebken, President of CWA Local 6360.

Negotiations have not yet begun for the unit, but the Local hopes that bargaining on a first contract will begin soon.
